The Kenya Tourism Board has released a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document clarifying the country’s mandatory inbound travel health insurance requirements for international visitors. The guidance addresses key concerns for travellers and the tourism industry, including who must obtain the insurance, applicable exemptions, costs, coverage limits, and claims procedures. The policy provides coverage of up to USD 50,000 per person for medical expenses, emergency evacuation, and repatriation, with the insurance premium set at USD 44 per person. Travellers should be aware that the designated cover is required even if they already hold travel insurance from their home country, subject to the applicable exemptions. The new guidance aims to help travel agents, tour operators, airlines, and accommodation providers communicate the requirements clearly and ensure visitors are adequately prepared before travelling to Kenya.
