The Ministry of Tourism and Natural Resources in Tanzania has mandated that all fees and charges in the tourism sector must be paid in local currency, the Tanzanian shilling, aligning with a government directive for all local transactions. This includes Tourism Business Licence fees, filming permits, and visiting fees, with payments previously made in dollars to be converted based on the Bank of Tanzania exchange rate. The transition to shillings began on July 1, with a deadline of August 1 for compliance. The move aims to stabilize the Tanzanian shilling and support the local economy, encouraging tourists and non-residents to exchange foreign currency for shillings
