We’re in September, and that means it’s time to start mapping out your end-of-year holiday. If a game drive is on your bucket list, you’re in good company. There’s something special about being in the wild during December: crisp mornings filled with birdsong, wide-open skies, and, if luck is on your side, a sighting of the Big Five. 

We were a group of Malayalis who had been born and brought up in Tanganyika, who had desired to re-visit the land of our birth. Rickshaw Travels enabled us to fulfil this dream We went with our families and had the most amazing time travelling through Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and then onto Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam. On every step of the way we found that Mrs Prema Lalji , her deputy in Arusha, Mr Gireesh Nair, all her staff in Arusha, and the entire team in Dar had paid meticulous attention to our requests and desires, to see this, to do that, whatever....and co-ordinated things so well that it all went off smooth as clockwork. The accommodation was excellent at all the places we stayed - the Serena Group, the Tembo in Zanzibar and the Aura Suites in Dar. Richard Miage, our Guide-driver, was a jolly chap, who kept us in good humour as we drove, and was fantastic in spotting the wild life and getting us close to see the Big 5.
