This October, we continue celebrating the people behind your Rickshaw journeys. 
Here’s what we asked her:

What inspired you to work in the travel industry, and how did your journey with Rickshaw begin?
I have always loved discovering new places, experiencing different cultures and, most importantly, seeing how travel can create memories that stay with you for a lifetime. My journey with Rickshaw began as an opportunity to turn that passion into something meaningful. Over the years, I have really enjoyed being part of a team that doesn’t simply sell holidays, but creates thoughtful and personalised travel experiences for our clients.

What is your most memorable travel experience so far, and why does it stand out? 
South Africa, especially Cape Town and the Garden Route, has been one of my most memorable travel experiences. I loved the incredible combination of beautiful scenery, wildlife, great food and the variety of experiences along the way. The Garden Route was particularly special because every drive brought a new landscape and something different to discover. It was one of those trips where the destination itself felt like an adventure, and it left me wanting to explore even more of South Africa.

If you were planning a dream trip for a guest, what experience would you always include?
I would always include an experience that allows the guest to truly connect with the destination rather than simply visit its famous sights. Whether it is a safari, a local food experience, meeting local people or discovering a hidden gem, I think these are the moments that make a trip feel personal and special.

How do you bring the Rickshaw travel spirit into every client experience?
For me, it is about listening carefully to what the client really wants and then going beyond the basic itinerary. Every traveller is different, so I try to understand their interests, comfort levels and expectations and add those little touches that make the journey feel tailor-made. I believe the Rickshaw spirit is about creating experiences with care, attention to detail and a genuine passion for travel.

What destination or experience is next on your personal travel wish list—and why?
New Zealand is very high on my travel wish list. I would love to experience it as an adventurous destination — exploring its stunning landscapes, mountains, lakes and national parks, while trying some of the outdoor activities it is famous for. I think New Zealand would be the perfect combination of breathtaking scenery and adventure, with something exciting to discover around every corner.

For Lavina, travel is about the stories, connections and experiences that stay with you long after the journey ends. Whether she is helping a client discover a new destination or exploring one herself, she approaches travel with curiosity, care and a genuine sense of adventure. With plenty more of the world still waiting to be explored, there is no doubt that her own travel story and the experiences she creates for others will continue to grow.
