WINE VILLAGES OF SOUTH AFRICA

About a 90-minute drive from Capetown lie the renowned vineyards of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. The drive along the winding highway takes you through the scenic and hilly countryside and dotted along the route are the many small towns that make up this countryside. Among them is the town of Stellenbosch, the second-oldest, historically preserved town in southern Africa. Around this area, both connoisseurs and novice wine-drinkers can equally enjoy the fruit the vine. There are self-drive wine-tasting tours as well as guided ones.

Not only can you indulge in some of the world’s top award-winning wines, but also in the finest continental cuisine, a vineyard picnic, vintner’s platter, African cuisine and traditional Cape fare. The best way to discover the Town of Stellenbosch is on foot. For the golf enthusiast there are three world-class, 18-hole golf courses and for nature-lovers, there are horse trails and cycle trails that meander through the mountains and vineyards.
