The Kizimkazi Hiking Loop in Zanzibar, a collaborative initiative by UNDP Tanzania, the State University of Zanzibar, and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, aims to promote sustainable tourism through a 10 km eco-tourism trail. This project, part of the Bahari Maisha (Ocean Life) initiative, combines technology with nature to enhance tourist experiences while supporting local businesses, particularly those led by women and youth. A dedicated mobile app will provide navigation, safety alerts, cultural insights, and real-time updates on nearby attractions, fostering community engagement and economic growth. By integrating with platforms like Komoot, the Kizimkazi Loop aspires to position Southern Zanzibar as a premier eco-tourism destination.
