Air India has announced additional frequencies on key routes as part of its Northern Summer schedule effective 30 March 2025. Changes include increased weekly flights on various routes, such as Delhi-London Heathrow, Amritsar-Birmingham, and Ahmedabad-London Gatwick. The airline is also upgrading its aircraft, with the modernization of narrowbody aircraft set to be completed by mid-2025 and retrofit of legacy widebodies, starting with the Boeing 787, to commence in April and finish by October 2025. However, retrofit of the Boeing 777 fleet will be delayed to early 2026 due to production constraints. As a result of the retrofit program, Air India will temporarily suspend its Mumbai-Melbourne and Kochi-London Gatwick routes, while maintaining 12x weekly flights to London Gatwick from other destinations.
