Immigration lines at Entebbe Airport in Kampala, Uganda will soon be shorter and faster for travelers with the launch of new self-service eKiosks for departures in 2019. With over 1.5million passengers travelling through the airport each year, this new system will speed up service and support security measures by affording travelers a faster option through immigration and border control, while giving authorities real-time, accurate data on who’s leaving the country, using fingerprint and facial recognition technology in addition to a passport scan. Cephus T. Bushuyu, Managing Director of SCINTL, one of the companies involved in the implementation, said “Overseas visitors are playing a key role in Uganda's economic development, and many will now enjoy the option of a safe, fast-track border-crossing experience.”
