Beginning February 21, Airlink and SA Express (SAX) resumed flights between Johannesburg and Mthatha. Flights had been suspended on January 25 after the airport was downgraded by South African Civil Aviation Authority after unfavourable findings in a recent audit. SAX will run early morning and late afternoon flights between OR Tambo and Mthatha Airport Monday to Friday, in addition to morning flights on Saturdays and afternoon flights on Sundays. Flights will run on a 37-seat Embraer 135 regional jet.
