Dubai’s low cost carrier FlyDubai launches flights to the city of Hargeisa, located in the breakaway but not yet internationally recognized Somaliland.
CEO Gaith Al Gaith, when speaking in Hargeisa during the welcoming ceremony, said: ‘We strive to provide underserved markets with direct air links to Dubai. The addition of Hargeisa to our network will provide the Somali diaspora with the opportunity to visit their families and friends in their home country. With the interline agreements we have in place more than 250 destinations can now offer flights to Hargeisa through Dubai’s aviation hub’.
A two class configuration of Business and Economy is available on flights to and from Hargeisa and across the airline’s network, offering passengers a choice of comfort levels and fares. Cargo services are also available on the new route. The new flights connect more than 90 destinations in 45 countries in Africa, Middle East and Subcontinent, Eastern Europe, Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia, and 135 additional destinations worldwide due to interline agreements to Hargeisa.
Fly Dubai late last year launched in the space of just two months flights to Entebbe, Kigali, Bujumbura, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, using their Boeing B737-800NG aircraft of which they now operate 48 with 100 more on order for delivery by 2023.
