On October 29, the first phase of the new four-phase, 29.5 square mile Istanbul airport will open. Once completed, the new airport will be larger than the island of Manhattan. Phase 1 will be able to accommodate 90 million passengers, and once completed ,the entire airport will be able to serve 200 million passengers a year, making it the busiest airport in the world. The airport will also have a 451-room Yotel, with pod-like rooms both before and after security. Yotel already operates properties at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports, Amsterdam Schipol and Charles de Gaulle in Paris.
