The cruise ship season in Kenya will get a major boost when a new cruise terminal opens in Mombasa in August. A 2015 survey by Tourism and Transport Consult International predicted that cruise ship tourists in Kenya could reach 140,000 people per year in the future. With this in mind, the country is looking to market Mombasa as a cruise destination and take advantage of growing global cruise tourism. The new terminal will have separate areas for arrivals and departures, an immigration office, a lounge, restaurant, shops and more. The first two phases of the terminal are already complete, with the last phase expected to be done by the end of the summer.
