From April 24 until July 24, the main runway at Chileka International Airport (BLZ) will be closed for maintenance, affecting big aircraft of commercial airlines, including Kenya Airways and South African Airways. Auxiliary runways at BLZ will continue to accommodate smaller aircraft, but large commercial flights will be diverted to Kamuzu International Airport (LLW) in Lilongwe during the main runway closure at BLZ. Travellers should note that Chileka is 350km away from Kamuzu, and schedule travel and accommodations accordingly during the runway maintenance period.
