Rwanda's government has recently approved the introduction of a tourism levy to bolster the development of the industry. The levy, set at 3% of the total hotel room rate for the duration of stay, will be payable by tourists. The Cabinet's statement on the tax policy reforms, announced on February 10, did not specify an implementation date but emphasized that the changes would be in effect before the end of Rwanda's 2024/25 financial year, which concludes on June 30.
