South African Airways (SAA) is set to resume flights to Perth, Australia, with the inaugural flight from Johannesburg scheduled for April 28, 2024. Bookings for this route opened on January 8, 2024. SAA's CEO, Professor John Lamola, highlights the strategic significance of expanding operations to Perth, aligning with the airline's goal to enhance profitability through long-haul intercontinental connectivity. This marks the second interoceanic route within six months, following the successful launch of the Sao Paulo route in Brazil. SAA's membership in the Star Alliance further contributes to seamless travel for customers. The Perth route caters to both leisure and business travelers, fostering cultural exchange and trade between South Africa and Australia. The flights will operate three times a week in each direction, utilizing an Airbus A340-300 during the launch phase, emphasizing comfort and reliability. The addition of the Perth route aligns with SAA's vision of expanding its global presence to over 20 destinations in the coming year.
