US investors are set to inject $22 million (approximately Rwf33 billion) into a major vineyard estate near Volcanoes National Park, a project expected to expand grape growing and wine production while creating jobs and new opportunities in agriculture and tourism.
The vineyard estate, which will span parts of Musanze, Burera and Nyabihu districts, is being developed as an integrated agricultural, winemaking and hospitality project.
Rwanda Development Board (RDB) CEO Jean-Guy Afrika last week joined a dinner in honour of the American co-founders of VINMUSA Vineyard Estate, hosted at the residence of the US Embassy Chief of Mission.
Afrika said the investors became interested in vineyard development after years of tourism linked to gorilla trekking in the country.
