The 38th African Union (AU) Summit has highlighted the urgent need for a visa-free Africa to enhance economic growth and integration on the continent. Leaders and stakeholders are calling for the removal of travel barriers that hinder intra-African trade, labor mobility, and innovation. Despite some progress by countries like Rwanda, The Gambia, and Ghana in embracing visa-free policies, over 50% of African nations still require visas for most travelers, creating significant obstacles. The AU and AfDB have launched the 2025 Visa-Free Roadshow to promote visa liberalization and showcase economic benefits, aligning with the vision of a borderless Africa under Agenda 2063. The push for visa-free movement at the AU Summit underscores the importance of translating policy commitments into concrete actions to unlock Africa's full potential for prosperity, growth, and unity.
