Day 01:
Addis Ababa
-Welcome at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and transfer to hotel
-Sightseeing with a national guide, including:
-National Archaeological Museum, with exhibits on the history of Ethiopia and the famous bones of Lucy, believed to be the ancestor of all human kind
-Holy Trinity Cathedral, with stunning stained-glass windows and the tombs of the late emperor and his family
-Merkato, the largest open market in Africa, open every day except Sundays, offering a variety of commodities and handicrafts
-Meals: Lunch and dinner included
-Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02:
Lalibela
- Early morning breakfast at your hotel in Addis Ababa
- Transfer to Addis Ababa (Bole) int. airport for flight to Lalibela
- Arrive in Lalibela in the afternoon
- Visit the north-west cluster of churches consisting of Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Debre Sina, and Bet Golgotha
- Explore the isolated monolith of Bet Giyorgis (the Church of St George)
- Visit Bet Medhane Alem, the largest monolithic rock-hewn church
- Participate in a traditional coffee ceremony
- Learn about the importance of the coffee ceremony in Ethiopian culture
- Enjoy a delicious Ethiopian dinner
- Overnight stay in Lalibela
Day 03:
Lalibela
- Breakfast at accommodation
- Visit to Yimrehane Kirstos cave church, 40km from city
- Tour of the church, built by King Yimrehane Kirstos
- If available, attend yearly celebration with tens of thousands of pilgrims
- Witness traditional singing, dancing, and chanting by priests and congregation
- Return to Lalibela for lunch
- Afternoon visit to second group of rock churches in the south-east cluster
- Tour of Bet Gebriel-Rafael, Bet Abba Libanos, Bet Lehem, Bet Emanuel, and Bet Mercurios
- Learn about the legends and stories behind these churches
- Optional activities include visiting local markets or attending a cooking class
- Dinner at accommodation
- Overnight stay in Lalibela.
Day 04:
Addis Ababa
- After breakfast, transfer to Lalibela Airport for return flight to Addis Ababa.
- Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for day use.
- Explore Addis Ababa through shopping or sightseeing options.
- Visit Entoto Hills and enjoy fresh Ethiopian coffee from roadside stalls.
- Stop by Shero Meda Market for traditional clothing and gift ideas.
- Continue shopping in Addis Ababa or enjoy day use at hotel.
- In the evening, experience a cultural evening at a local restaurant.
- Enjoy traditional dances and meals with a drink of Tej, a type of honey wine.
