In 2025, the UCI Road World Championships will make history by coming to Africa for the first time, with Kigali, Rwanda hosting the prestigious event from 21–28 September. Known as the “land of a thousand hills,” Rwanda will challenge riders across all categories—Junior, U23, and Elite—on its unique terrain. This marks a major milestone in cycling’s global expansion and a powerful moment for African talent to shine on the world stage. The event will also feature the first standalone races for Women Under-23.
